Consider, in a timely manner, deregistering with your previous municipality, terminating any existing contracts and redirecting your mail. Deregistration of foreign residence (Abmeldebestätigung) is required to register in Switzerland and pursue a change of address in your passport.
Entry conditions
Foreign nationals require a valid travel document recognized by Switzerland in order to gain entry. In certain cases, a visa is required. You must prove that you have sufficient funds available – or you can obtain them through legal means – to support yourself while travelling through or staying in Switzerland. The Federal Office for Migration (Bundesamt für Migration or BFM), Swiss foreign missions and cantonal immigration authorities can all provide information about general entry requirements.
Purpose of visit
Foreign visitors who have entered legally and are not engaged in gainful employment do not need a residence permit to stay for up to three months in Switzerland. In general, no stay may exceed three months in any six-month span. Persons requiring a visa must observe the duration allowed for the visa. Foreigners who wish to pursue work in Switzerland require appropriate authorization. In the case of a visa requirement, confirmation will be granted with the visa.
